UK Legal Counsel – Remote (UK Based) – Up to $100k

Plexus is partnering with a crypto-native digital bank expanding its UK-regulated footprint to hire a UK-qualified Legal Counsel to lead regulatory authorisation and support product compliance.

Role Overview As UK Legal Counsel, you will own the UK regulatory application process and provide ongoing legal and compliance guidance as the business builds out its UK entity. You will advise on product structuring, monitor the evolving UK regulatory landscape, and work closely with Product, Compliance, Risk, and Marketing teams to ensure regulatory considerations are embedded across new and existing services.

Core Responsibilities

  • Lead preparation and submission of UK regulatory applications including FCA authorisations and permissions
  • Advise on the regulatory structuring of new products and services across banking and digital assets
  • Monitor and interpret UK regulatory developments in banking, fintech, payments, and cryptoassets
  • Provide guidance on Consumer Duty obligations and financial promotions requirements
  • Review client-facing communications and marketing materials for regulatory compliance
  • Draft and review commercial contracts and engagement terms
  • Deliver clear, concise legal analysis and recommendations to internal stakeholders
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure compliant product rollouts

Requirements

  • UK-qualified lawyer with 2-4 years PQE (or European-qualified with demonstrable UK regulatory experience)
  • Experience in financial services regulation across banking, payments, fintech, or digital assets
  • Strong working knowledge of the UK regulatory framework and FCA processes
  • Proven experience supporting or managing regulatory applications
  • Commercially pragmatic legal mindset with strong attention to detail
  • Strong research, drafting, and analytical capability
  • Ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-moving, remote-first environment
  • UK-based with ability to travel to London for regulator and FCA meetings (travel covered)

Nice to Haves

  • In-house fintech or digital banking experience
  • Exposure to cryptoasset regulation or MiCA
  • Experience in cross-border regulatory environments
