Senior Backend Engineer (NYC)

Plexus is partnered with a rapidly growing, venture-backed startup building critical financial infrastructure.

Overview:

We’re looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to own core systems, make foundational architectural decisions, and build reliable infrastructure at scale. This is a highly hands-on role within a small, senior team.

Responsibilities:

• Design and build core backend systems handling high-volume transactions.
• Own systems end-to-end across APIs, infrastructure, deployment, and reliability.
• Integrate with complex external financial systems.
• Drive backend architecture and engineering best practices.

Requirements:

• Proven payments infrastructure experience in production.
• 5+ years of software engineering experience preferred.
• Strong TypeScript / Node.js backend experience.
• Experience building scalable, distributed systems.

Bonus:

• Crypto, Solana, or Rust experience.
• Experience with AWS, Kubernetes, Terraform, or Temporal.
