Senior Backend Engineer

Lead Backend Engineer (Node.js)

Crypto Gaming & Betting | Remote (EU Timezones) | Up to $150k

Plexus is partnered with an established crypto gaming and betting platform operating at significant scale. They’re looking for a Lead Backend Engineer to own and modernise core backend infrastructure within a lean, product-focused team.

Responsibilities:

• Build and modernise backend systems using Node.js, TypeScript and PostgreSQL.
• Own architectural decisions and solve complex technical problems independently.
• Design scalable, high-throughput services and APIs.
• Use and review AI-generated code while maintaining engineering standards.
• Work closely with product to deliver reliable features.

Requirements:

• 3–5+ years backend engineering experience.
• Strong Node.js, TypeScript, PostgreSQL and SQL.
• Strong architectural, testing and debugging skills.
• Comfortable working independently with high ownership.
• Startup/product-led experience preferred.
• Crypto/financial services experience is a plus.
• Strong English communication skills.
• Experience with AI-assisted development.
