Competitive Salary + Performance Bonus

Plexus is partnered with a Web3 trading company building consumer-facing products on top of on-chain infrastructure. They operate an existing web application where users interact with their markets, and are now standing up a dedicated trading arm to develop new market types, instruments and product verticals, including taking advantage of Hyperliquid’s recently launched permissionless markets to build at the contract level.

This is a ground-floor hire into a new trading-focused arm of the business. You’ll be one of two or three engineers with hands on the actual engineering surface. Building the infrastructure that determines what this product vertical becomes. The scope of what you work on, and how far into the business you reach, is shaped by what you produce.

Responsibilities:

– Build out the core infrastructure for a new product vertical focused on on-chain trading: new market types, new instruments, or compositions of instruments. – Work alongside one other experienced quant developer, contributing meaningfully from day one rather than executing a pre-defined task list. – Get involved in planning and direction-setting conversations: this is a role where engineering input shapes product decisions, not just implements them. – Operate in a genuinely ambiguous environment where the next phase of work is defined by the output of the current one. – Grow into strategy and market-making work over time if that’s where your strengths and interests lie.

Requirements:

– Practical exposure to Rust is the first technical filter for this role. – Sufficient engineering experience to build and ship infrastructure end-to-end, without relying on detailed task specifications. – Demonstrably self-directed: already building things independently, not waiting to be pointed at a problem – Comfortable and effective in unstructured environments where the work is not pre-defined: explicitly the wrong fit for large-org execution cultures. – Able to engage across engineering and broader product or business conversations as the role demands

Nice to haves:

– Background in quantitative research, signal development or market-making is relevant for where the role can evolve. – Familiarity with on-chain trading infrastructure or DeFi protocol mechanics. – Experience in an early-stage or zero-to-one build environment.

Benefits:

– One of a tiny number of engineers shaping what a new trading product becomes (genuine influence over direction, not just delivery). – Meritocracy-driven scope: how far you reach into the business is determined by what you produce, not your job title. – Competitive base, nothing is off the table for the right performance. – Early entry into a company that already has a live product and is expanding into a new vertical.
