Infrastructure & Security Engineer On-Site – San Francisco Competitive Salary + Equity Healthcare   The Company: They are building the world’s first Bitcoin-denominated life insurer, using AI and digital money to make long-term savings and protection accessible to everyone, everywhere. They have raised $100m+. With a team of just 18 (4 engineers), They are scaling fast – expanding its products into Singapore and Hong Kong, building new core systems from scratch, and operating at the frontier of AI, blockchain, and financial infrastructure.   The Role: They’re looking for an Infrastructure & Security Engineer to own the future evolution of their infrastructure and security posture. This is a deeply technical, high-ownership role for someone who can think holistically – from calibrating nuanced threat models to designing the right systems to mitigate them. You’ll drive key decisions around deployment, observability, storage, and security, working closely with backend engineers, auditors, and business stakeholders. This is not an operational role – they’re looking for someone who can build, not just maintain, and who brings judgment, initiative, and systems-level thinking.   Responsibilities:

  • Lead the evolution of company infrastructure and security architecture
  • Own technology choices and implementation for deployment, observability, storage, and cloud architecture
  • Scope and execute incremental improvements to systems and processes across infrastructure and security domains
  • Collaborate with backend engineers to embed security principles into the development lifecycle
  • Work closely with internal and external auditors to identify and address risk areas
  • Develop and calibrate threat models, then design and implement technical solutions aligned with them
  • Build consensus and clear communication across stakeholders regarding risk, tradeoffs, and impact

  Requirements:

  • Strong experience with Python and Terraform
  • Deep understanding of modern cloud architecture, infrastructure-as-code, and data governance
  • Proven ability to design and execute security-conscious systems, not just operate them
  • Strong judgment in calibrating threat models and determining the right tools or interventions for each situation
  • Broad experience across different systems and environments – adaptable, not dogmatic
  • Excellent communication skills; able to build trust and consensus around security decisions
  • A proactive, ownership-driven mindset – someone who thrives in high-context, high-autonomy environments
