Chief Financial Officer, Digital Assets – Up to $230k + Bonus – US (New York or Florida)

Plexus is partnering with the digital assets and payments arm of an established US brokerage and investing platform to hire their Chief Financial Officer.

Role Overview

This is the designated CFO for the crypto entity and it is genuinely hands-on. You are the finance function, not the head of one. Accounting, financial reporting, regulatory filings, treasury and controls, all owned end to end for a regulated money transmitter. Part controller, part regulatory reporting lead, part business partner to a small crypto leadership team.

Internally this is graded at director level within a large organisation’s banding. Externally, and for regulatory purposes, you are the CFO of the entity.

Core Responsibilities

• Own the finance function end to end, covering accounting, reporting, regulatory filings, treasury and financial controls
• Prepare and file call reports and multi-state regulatory reporting across the money transmitter licence footprint
• Do the work yourself, including invoices, bank accounts and month end close
• Partner with the group CFO and finance organisation, and with the entity’s CEO and Director of Operations

What They’re Looking For

• 5 to 7 years in finance or accounting inside a regulated financial services, payments or crypto business
• Money transmitter licence experience. Hard requirement. Owning it, sitting in an MTL team, or working an application in progress all count
• Multi-state and ideally all 50 state regulatory reporting
• Oracle experience
• A strong technical accountant who is comfortable in the weeds rather than overseeing others doing the work
• Enough crypto exposure to understand the business model and its accounting implications. Deep expertise is not expected

Nice to Haves

• CPA
• Sole finance owner at a smaller crypto or payments firm running multi-state reporting
• Broker dealer finance background with MTL exposure, which works instead of crypto
• Stablecoin or crypto payments accounting experience

Compensation and Setup

• New York $185k to $230k base, Florida $165k to $210k base
• Discretionary annual bonus, typically 2 to 4 months of salary at this level
