Backend Engineer

The Company: They are building the world’s first Bitcoin-denominated life insurer, using AI and digital money to make long-term savings and protection accessible to everyone, everywhere. They have raised $100m+. With a team of just 18 (4 engineers), They are scaling fast – expanding its products into Singapore and Hong Kong, building new core systems from scratch, and operating at the frontier of AI, blockchain, and financial infrastructure.   The Role They are looking for a Backend Engineer who thrives on ownership, curiosity, and end-to-end delivery. You’ll join a small, elite engineering team where autonomy is high, context is complex, and impact is immediate. You’ll drive the evolution of their backend platform – from designing new core systems to supporting the expansion of their insurance products into new markets. This is an opportunity to work on problems no one has solved before and to help shape the technical foundation of a company redefining global insurance.   Responsibilities:

• Take ownership of major backend projects – from scope to completion
• Design, build, and evolve shared backend services that support all product lines
• Work closely with product engineers to identify platform needs and develop elegant, scalable solutions
• Contribute to system design, domain modelling, and developer experience
• Use and improve CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code (AWS, Terraform), and observability tools
• Experiment with AI-assisted development workflows to accelerate productivity

  Requirements:

• Strong experience with Python, GraphQL, and AWS
• Interest in Web3, smart contracts, or ZK proofs
• Deep understanding of backend architecture and system design
• Proven ability to independently deliver complex projects
• Curious, self-directed, and motivated by meaningful ownership
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills
